Stan was a great motivator. He was always enthusiastic about public health and especially vaccines. He went our of his way to befriend those of us working in what was the Immunization Division of the Bureau of State State Services at CDC in the 1970s. He took special interest in innovative strategies to control measles and motivated me and others to work internationally as well as domestically. He was always looking for new dedicated personnel, including recruitment efforts at Emory. He was and will remain a lifelong friend.
