I first spoke with Stan when I was accepted to Rollins, and his encouragement and emphasis on community-based global health convinced me that Rollins would be the right place for me to do my masters. He was always unabashedly himself, and always always cheering us on. I was so privileged to learn from him, as a student and a teaching assistant, and to see his commitment to centering collaborative community transformation work through his many stories and the Training for Transformation course. He has left an indelible mark on so many people through his life. I am grateful to have known him and will hold his lessons, humor, and intentionality in my heart. May his memory be a blessing – it undoubtedly already is.
