In memory of my relative Stanley O. Foster, who dedicated his life to advancing global public health as an epidemiologist with the Centers for Disease Control. He had a big heart, a ready smile, and a relentlessly can-do attitude. And he inspired everyone around him to work for the betterment of the world. Known to his grandchildren as Grandpa Hippo, he had a special fondness for bow ties.
