I was hired as The Admin Manager @RSPH in 2006 and I met Stan in the early months of my employment. He had stopped by the office once or twice and would ask me my name each time. He finally stopped one day and said to me ” I want to pronounce your name correctly and stop asking you your name; why don’t you have a name plate on your desk?” I responded; “well, I don’t think they’ve done that in the past”. He as not taking that as a final response. He marched into my supervisor’s office and requested I have a nice name plate. From that moment on, Stan and I had a great working rapport often chatting about my children, his children and his travels throughout his amazing career. He always had time to stop to “chat” and actively listen and would even remember your stories and would ask about specifics her remembered after each chat. Stan will be missed immensely. That name plate will now hold a greater meaning to me because I will forever remember how it came to pass.
