Stan often sat in my office while looking or waiting for someone or other in CDC’s Polio Program. He was always kind, with a bright smile and a story to pass the time. I remember him always wearing his bow tie, a quick wit and contagious laugh. I loved hearing about his smallpox days. A true pillar of the international health community!
