What distinguishes pre-results review from the other two is that it also incorporates\u00a0<b>peer-review<\/b>\u00a0of the pre-specified research design at Stage 1. Following data collection and analysis, Stage 2 of peer review then ensures that research projects were implemented in alignment with their pre-specified research design, and the results of all pre-specified analyses are clearly reported.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\n\n\t\t  <\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t  <\/div>\n\n\t\t<div class=\"faq-accordion-inner\">\n\t<a class=\"faq-admin-link\" title=\"Link to this question\" href=\"#if-accepted-based-on-pre-results-review-can-authors-first-submit-the-full-article-to-another-journal\">\n\n\t\t<span class=\"dashicons dashicons-admin-links\"><\/span>\n\n\t<\/a>\n\t\t\n\t\n\t  <button id=\"if-accepted-based-on-pre-results-review-can-authors-first-submit-the-full-article-to-another-journal\" class=\"accordion  accordion-plus-minus collapsible\">\n\n\t\t\n\t\t\t  <span class=\"num-counter\"> \n\n\t\t\t\t2. \n\n\t\t\t  <\/span>\n\n\t\tIf accepted based on pre-results review, can authors first submit the Full Article to another journal?<span class=\"faq-show-hide-icon dashicons dashicons-plus\"><\/span>\n\t<\/button>\n\n\t\t<div class=\"panel\">\n\t\t<div class=\"faq-ans-section\" >\n\n\t\t<div class=\"m_card\">\n<div id=\"m_collapseTwo\" class=\"m_collapse\" aria-labelledby=\"headingTwo\">\n<div class=\"m_card-body\">\n<div>Following acceptance based on pre-results review authors are free to first submit the full-length paper to other journals. This\u00a0<em>will not<\/em>\u00a0compromise the Stage 2 review of the paper if it is subsequently submitted to the JDE.<\/div>\n<p>Note that the Stage 1 proposal or the Stage 2 full paper <em>must not be submitted to another journal while the respective manuscript is under review at the JDE<\/em>. The corresponding author(s) need to notify the JDE if they decide to submit the full paper to another journal. Should the paper be\u00a0<em>rejected<\/em>\u00a0by the other journal, the JDE will observe the pre-results acceptance for\u00a0<strong>up to five years<\/strong>\u00a0after it was granted.<\/p>\n<p>If the full paper is\u00a0<em>accepted<\/em>\u00a0at another journal, the corresponding author should notify the JDE, and a brief note on the outcome will be published alongside the proposal\u2019s summary in the JDE\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/afosterri.org\/jdepreresults\/phase-2-results\/\" rel=\"noreferrer\">Catalog of Prospective Articles<\/a>\u00a0accepted based on pre-results review (e.g., \u201cThe proposal &lt;title&gt; by &lt;authors&gt; was accepted by the\u00a0<em>Journal of Development Economics<\/em> based on a pre-results review basis. The full paper based on this proposal was eventually accepted and published as &lt;title&gt; &lt;citation&gt;,&lt;DOI&gt;). The JDE Editorial Board also asks that working papers and published papers acknowledge that the article underwent peer review and was accepted based on pre-results basis at the JDE, citing the proposal summary in the JDE Catalog of articles accepted based on pre-results review.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"m_card\">\n<div id=\"m_headingThree\" class=\"m_card-header\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\n\n\t\t  <\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t  <\/div>\n\n\t\t<div class=\"faq-accordion-inner\">\n\t<a class=\"faq-admin-link\" title=\"Link to this question\" href=\"#are-stage-1-proposals-required-to-be-pre-registered\">\n\n\t\t<span class=\"dashicons dashicons-admin-links\"><\/span>\n\n\t<\/a>\n\t\t\n\t\n\t  <button id=\"are-stage-1-proposals-required-to-be-pre-registered\" class=\"accordion  accordion-plus-minus collapsible\">\n\n\t\t\n\t\t\t  <span class=\"num-counter\"> \n\n\t\t\t\t3. \n\n\t\t\t  <\/span>\n\n\t\tAre Stage 1 Proposals required to be pre-registered?<span class=\"faq-show-hide-icon dashicons dashicons-plus\"><\/span>\n\t<\/button>\n\n\t\t<div class=\"panel\">\n\t\t<div class=\"faq-ans-section\" >\n\n\t\t<p>The JDE does not require, but strongly encourages authors to pre-register their Stage 1 Proposals before the start of data collection. Instead, the JDE will post the title and abstract of Stage 1 Proposals accepted based on pre-results review in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/afosterri.org\/jdepreresults\/phase-2-results\/\" rel=\"noreferrer\">Catalog of Prospective Articles<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Note that authors are required to submit the accepted Stage 1 Proposal as supporting material to their Stage 2 submissions. Are projects where some data have been collected eligible for this track?<span class=\"faq-show-hide-icon dashicons dashicons-plus\"><\/span>\n\t<\/button>\n\n\t\t<div class=\"panel\">\n\t\t<div class=\"faq-ans-section\" >\n\n\t\t<p>Submissions where follow-up data have been collected (outside of pilot and baseline data)\u00a0<b>are not eligible<\/b>\u00a0for this track.<\/p>\n<p>Work should be submitted at\u00a0<strong>a minimum of three months, but ideally six months to a year, before data collection of any outcome data.<\/strong> All participants, authors, referees and editors, must be blind to any outcome variables at each stage of revision of the Stage 1 submission.
